The governor of Turkey’s Bitlis Province, Orhan Ozturk, has signed the decision on renaming a Bitlis city street after prominent American-Armenian writer William Saroyan.
The Bitlis Provincial Hall issued a statement in which it was stated that the governor signed the decisions on the Bitlis Municipality renaming several neighborhoods and streets, Milliyet daily of Turkey reported.
It was noted that the governors also approved the decision on formally renaming a Bitlis city street after William Saroyan.
To note, Saroyan’s family was from Bitlis.
