Several Armenians have been wounded in a rocket attack on Armenian-populated district of Aleppo, Syria, on Saturday.

A source in the Armenian community of Aleppo told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the wounded are in a stable condition. The terrorist attack damaged the building of the Armenian Catholic church.

Earlier Syria's SANA agency reported quoting a police source that terrorists hiding in the old city of Aleppo fired a number of rocket shells on al-Kallaseh, al-Usra al-Saeda, al-Ram opposite to Hatem al-Ta’e School, al-Ikhaa Store in al-Sylimaniyeh and al-Sayyed Ali neighborhoods in the city, killing 8 civilians and injuring 47 others.

The source added that the terrorist attack destroyed a number of buildings, causing material damage to the public and private properties.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi condemned the terrorist attacks against the innocent civilians in Aleppo city on Saturday.

For his part, Grand Mufti Ahmad Badr-Eddin Hassoun condemned Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, the terrorists’ sponsors, as “the enemies of humanity and God.”

This condemnation was echoed by Spiritual Leader of the Arabic Evangelical Church in Aleppo Ibrahim Nasir when he called for holding those countries to account.

Nasir said the new terrorist attacks against Aleppo city are a continuation of the crimes which were carried out by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s forefathers a hundred year ago against the Armenians.
