YEREVAN. – The Prime Minister of Armenia, Hovik Abrahamyan, received speaker Zoi Konstantopoulou of the Hellenic Parliament. 

Konstantopoulou heads the official Greek delegation that participated in the Armenian Genocide Centennial commemorations which were held in Armenia.

The PM underscored the Greek delegation’s attendance to these remembrance events, and stated that this presence bespeaks the high level of Armenia-Greece relations. Abrahamyan also highly praised the collaboration between the two countries, and underscored the need to take steps toward the development of economic cooperation, and to strengthen interparliamentary ties.

Konstantopoulou, for her part, stressed that, as speaker of the Hellenic Parliament, she will continue contributing to the process of international recognition of the Armenian Genocide. In her words, Armenian-Greek relations have historical roots, which are good foundations for the development of ties between the two countries. The leader of the Hellenic Parliament added that Greece considers itself an ally of Armenia, and she highlighted bilateral collaboration within international organizations.

At the ensuing talk, the interlocutors reflected on several other matters of mutual interest.
