Uplink movie theatre in Tokyo hosted the “Armenian Film Nights’ event dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centennial from April 25-27. The event was organized on the initiative of the Embassy of Armenia in Japan and in cooperation with Japanese Committee of Armenian Genocide Centennial Events, Golden Apricot – Yerevan International Film Festival and Armenia’s Ministry of Culture. Atom Egoyan’s “Ararat,” Henri Verneuil’s “Mayrig,” Sergei Parajanov’s “The Color of Pomegranates” and Gor Baghdasaryan’s “Neighbors” were screened during the three-day event, Armenia's MFA press-service reports, 

The screenings were attended by hundreds of Japanese citizens, including scientists, historians, artists, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to Tokyo, public figures and politicians, journalists and members of the Armenian community.

Film critic and producer Ms. Chiseko Tanaka opened the evening by presenting the movies to the audience. On the same days article by Chiseko Tanaka, entitled “100 Years after the Genocide. Approaching Armenian Reality through Films” was published in the Japanese Nature and Human magazine.
