Mayor of the City of Brussels Yvan Mayeur honored victims of the Armenian Genocide with a minute of silence during the meeting of municipality council, RTBF reported.
“It is time to pay tribute to memory,” he said, urging other municipalities of Brussels to honor the victims.
According to RTBF, it was a symbolic gesture after heated discussions in the country on absence of several deputies of Turkish origin during the commemoration ceremony.
