YEREVAN. – Armenia's commission on constitutional reforms is working for one goal – transition to parliamentary system of government, expert on constitutional law Vardan Poghosyan told RFE/RL Armenian service.
“We are working on the same project, and, depending on how the political consultations will be held and given the offers of political forces, some changes may occur. I do not rule out that one project had several alternatives. I think, the Constitutional Commission will make professional judgment in favor of the parliamentary system,” Poghosyan said.
Earlier ruling Republican Party of Armenia did not rule out that two packages of constitutional reforms may be submitted to parliament.
The Commission has studied offers on the concept of constitutional changes from 14 political forces. On May 18-19 the concept will be discussed with the representatives of Venice Commission in Paris.
