YEREVAN. – Armenia's Education Minister Armen Ashotyan on Friday met with EU Commissioner on Education, Culture, Youth And Sport Tibor Navracsics on the margins of the Ministerial Summit of the European Higher Education Area and the Fourth Bologna Policy Forum (photo).

Minister Ashotyan thanked EU and personally Commissioner for helping to organize the forum. The Minister noted that for the conflicting parties education may become an important tool for the settlement of regional conflicts.

EU Commissioner for his part noted necessity to modernize European higher education area, stressing the projects of mobility and student exchange. He expressed hope that the Yerevan forum will have decisive and historic significance in expanding the single European educational space and will give new impetus to educational reform in all areas. He also noted the importance of the process of neighborhood as a cultural and educational bridges between the neighboring countries.

Minister Ashotyan touched upon Tempus and Erasmus + programs as well as involvement of the Armenian universities, stressing the importance of deepening bilateral ties. The sides noted importance of the Yerevan communiqué and declaration of the Fourth Bologna Policy Forum .
