Police have established a strict control in Turkey’s Diyarbakir, which is considered the “Kurdish capital city,” reported RIA Novosti news agency of Russia.

Parliamentary elections will be held in the country on Sunday, and the pro-Kurdish “Peoples’ Democratic Party” (HDP) will run in these elections for the first time. The HDP, however, needs to pass the 10-percent threshold to enter the parliament.

There is a large number of police in Diyarbakir. Three armored personnel carriers stand at the city center, a water cannon is deployed in the main street, and the police patrol the city streets.
