YEREVAN. - Musicians of The Small bodies band are now performing for the protestors in Yerevan’s Baghramyan Avenue.

Before this, the electric current in the building adjacent to the stage was switched on for a moment, going off again afterwards. The protestors get the power for their loudspeakers from the mentioned building.

During a short opportunity for speech, Davit Sanasaryan one of the sit-in coordinators and activists, announced that criminal case had been filed against Armenia’s Gyumri city activist Karen Poghosyan on charge of hooliganism.

Prior to this, the protestors were shouting “Shame, shame!” accusing the police of intentionally switching off the power. They also declared that they will continue their struggle and win it.

Protest against the electricity price hike has been held in Yerevan’s Baghramyan Avenue since June 22. In the morning of June 23, the police used force to disperse the protestors and arrested 237 people, but the protest resumed in the evening. Following Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s speech on June 28, disputes arose within the group of protest organizers and on the following day part of the protestors headed to Yerevan’s Liberty Square, ultimately stopping the protest later. The majority of the protestors have stayed in Baghramyan Avenue, where an around-the-clock sit-in is going on.
