YEREVAN. – The Central Bank of Armenia (CBA) does not intend to increase the state debt without oversight, CBA Chairman Arthur Javadyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
Javadyan noted that the recent amendments to the Law on State Debt are solely editing, and that the government debt will be separated from the CBA debt, at the upper threshold (60 percent) of the state debt.
Nonetheless, the amendment has solely made the law in compliance with the legislation, since the CBA was independent in its policies in the past, too. So, it can accumulate debt in accordance with its suitability; that is, one should not think that the new law has set the “hands” of the CBA free.
“There is no such thing,” added Arthur Javadyan.
