The deal reached over Iranian nuclear program is opening great opportunities for Armenia, senior associate in Carnegie's Russia and Eurasia Program Paul Stronski believes.

If the deal is implement and some of the sanctions are lifted, the Armenian side can strengthen economic cooperation with Iran, Stronski told the Voice of America Armenian service.

In addition, Armenia may get a real opportunity to transport Iranian gas to Europe through its territory, the expert said, adding that this is a real opportunity even in face of Russia's resistance.

Stronski said he would persuade Armenia to discuss opportunities to discuss transportation of Iranian energy resources with Georgia and Iran.

Overall, the deal will contribute to peace in the South Caucasus, he added.

Meanwhile, senior fellow at the American Foreign Policy Council Stephen Blank has other view on the Iranian deal.

He believes everything depends on Tehran. If the sanctions are lifted, Iran will have the right to freely sell oil that may give a country an additional income of approximately 150 billion. Part of this amount may be spent on increasing influence over the neighbors, Blank said.

Accordingly, Iran will try to increase its role and influence in the South Caucasus. If Iran remains committed to good neighborly relations and does not try to promote change of regime in the neighboring countries, the influence may be considered positive, otherwise there will be negative effect on South Caucasus.

Both analysts, however, agree that Iran-Armenia ties will not be damaged if the deal is ratified, as it is benefiical for both countries.
