A delegation from the Armenian Ministry of Defense, led by First Deputy Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan, is in the US on a working visit.

On Monday, Tonoyan and Ambassador Zohrab Mnatsakanyan—Permanent Representative of Armenia to the United Nations (UN)—held talks at the UN Headquarters with UN Assistant Secretary-General for the Rule of Law and Security Institutions, Dmitry Titov, and Chief of Staff of the Military Office of UN Secretary-General, Brigadier General Ahmed Mohamed.

The interlocutors discussed the Armenian units’ and officers’ participation in the UN peacekeeping missions. Tonoyan noted that Armenia will continue to be actively engaged in international security operations, and to increase its assistance in the UN peacekeeping missions.

The UN officials, for their part, hailed the Armenian peacekeepers’ service as part of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) multinational mission, and noted that partners like Armenia are indispensable for the UN peacekeeping operations.

The parties also conferred on several other matters of mutual interest.
