Funeral service of the Armenian soldier Harut Hakobyan, who was killed as a result of the Azerbaijani shelling, took place today in Avshar village of Armenia’s Ararat province.

The service was attended by high-ranking military officers, commanders of the soldier’s military unit, Armenia’s Minister of Nature Protection Aramayis Grigoryan, who is the fellow villager of Harut Hakobyan, as well as the soldier’s relatives, friends and neighbors.

“Private Hakobyan was a decent, honest and punctual serviceman. He performed the tasks assigned to him by the commanders properly and duly. Through his service he served as an example for all. Hakobyan was ready to implement any task for the protection of the homeland even at the expense of his life,” Major Zohrab Mkrtchyan told Armenian News – NEWS.am.

According to Hakob’s friends and neighbors, the soldier was humane and friendly.

Harut Hakobyan will be buried tomorrow in the cemetery of Avshar village.

According to the sources of Armenian News – NEWS.am, Hakobyan lived with his mother, elder sister and brother. His father died several years ago. Hakobyan’s mother is a farmer.

Harut Hakobyan was recruited on July 3, 2015.

The Azerbaijani Armed Forces shelled at one of the northeastern protection areas of the NKR Defense Army unit today at about 5:30 p.m. The fire was opened from Turkish-made TR-107 reactive rocket propelled howitzers. Consequently, NKR Defense Army soldiers Norayr Mikayel Khacatryan (b. 1995), Robert Suren Mkrtchyan (b. 1995), Harut Maxim Hakobyan (b. 1997) and Karen Gevorg Shahinyan (b. 1997) died from shrapnel wounds. Besides, 16 solders were wounded.

Upon the decree of Karabakh President Bako Sahakyan, the killed soldiers were posthumously awarded “For Service in Battle” medal.
