YEREVAN. – Armenia and Russia will exchange information regarding nuclear safety.

The respective procedures have been established pursuant to the agreement that was signed Wednesday in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.

The document was signed by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Armenia, Yervand Zakharyan, and the Head of the Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation of Russia, Sergei Kiriyenko.

Accordingly, the parties will exchange information not solely during emergency situations, but also about the current conditions of peaceful nuclear facilities.

Furthermore, two additional documents are signed along the lines of the program toward extending the life of Armenia’s nuclear power plant.

Russia has allocated a $30-million grant plus up to $270-million line of credit for the funding of this program.
