The sign and a part of the wall of the Surp (Holy) Giragos Armenian Church of Diyarbakır, Turkey, were damaged as a result of the shots fired by the Turkish police.

The church, which was restored by the means provided by Diyarbakır Armenians and with the support of Diyarbakır Municipality, became a target for the police during the recent Turkish-Kurdish clashes.

The Turkish law enforcement, taking advantage of the declaration of a curfew in Sur city in the Diyarbakır Province, fired irregular shots at the sign of the Surp Giragos Church.

Mosques were also damaged, and the Armenian Catholic church of Diyarbakır was robbed during these clashes.
