A concert was held in China, and in which musicians and professional table tennis players “performed” together.

Musicians and athletes came together at the Beijing theatre to create an amazing show, in which the sounds from impacts of the ping-pong balls entwined with the sounds of musical instruments.

The Ping-pong diplomacy—i.e. the exchange of table tennis (ping-pong) players between the United States (US) and China in the early 1970s, and which marked a thaw in Sino-American relations that paved the way to a visit to Beijing by then US President Richard Nixon—was again remembered during this concert.

Members of the Philharmonic Orchestra of China, renowned violinist Elizabeth Zeltser from the New York Philharmonic, drummer David Cossin, and professional table-tennis players Michael Landers (US) and Chinese American Ariel Hsing “performed” at this event.
