Armenian midfielder Edgar Babayan, 19, who plays his club football at Randers FC (Denmark), was recently invited to the Danish U21 national squad.
Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter Vera Martirosyan spoke with Babayan, and below is an excerpt from this interview.
Did you expect this invitation?
I got an invitation, but I can only train with the team, for now. I don’t have a Danish passport yet. The coach said has long-term plans with me. I should have played since the U18, but it’s very difficult to get a passport here [in Denmark]. I’ll get it this December. Once I get it, I’ll immediately join the Danish [national] youth squad.
How did Randers respond to this invitation?
Ever since when I was still 17 years old, Randers have always received many [telephone] calls from the Danish [football] federation. Now, I’m one step away from playing in the [Danish national youth] team.
