YEREVAN. - The government and people of France are grateful to the Armenian people for their sympathy, French Ambassador to Armenia Jean-Francois Charpentier told Armenian News – NEWS.am, noting that the flow of citizens to the Embassy has not stopped since early morning.

“Innocent people are once again falling victim to such terror attacks; this is a result of a certain expression of religious intolerance. Judging by the condolence letters addressed to us during the whole day, we can say that everyone is determined to unite in the struggle against this dreadful evil,” the Ambassador said.

The French Ambassador along with President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and other dignitaries took part in the candlelight vigil held in Yerevan today in memory of the victims of Paris attacks.

Hundreds of citizens laid candles and flowers at the sculpture by Auguste Rodin in Yerevan's France Square. They brought with them posters reading “Our prayers, hearts and souls are with French people,” “We pray for Paris,” “Vive la France” and “Stop Terrorism.”

Simultaneous terrorist attacks occurred Friday evening in six different parts of the French capital city.

The attacks claimed over 150 lives and injured numerous people.
