YEREVAN. – Government of the Russian Federation (RF) on Tuesday issued the list of the Turkish products whose imports to Russia will be banned, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reported.

“Most of the banned products can be produced in Armenia, too. This creates theoretical opportunities for increasing the export volumes of the production of these Armenian products toward Russia.

“But in practice, there is a greater chance that our producers would suffer.

“The problem is that the Turkish products, which are already produced but not exported to the RF due to the [Russian] sanctions, will appear in our region, primarily in Georgia and Azerbaijan. It is not hard to guess that some of them will be imported to Armenia. And since their prices will be low, they can occupy a highly advantageous position against our products, in the competition.

“In addition, the ‘banned’ Turkish products would appear in the markets where our exporters had managed to enter,” Haykakan Zhamanak wrote.
