YEREVAN. - Participants of the “New Armenia” Public Salvation Front installed a tent at Yerevan’s Liberty Square today, which was soon removed by the police.

Jirayr Sefilian, head of the “United Opposition Headquarters,” urged the citizens at the square to refrain from resisting the police, as reported by Armenian News – NEWS.am.

Following the incident, the number of the police officers at the square rapidly increased. For his part, Deputy Chairman of the opposition “Heritage” party Armen Martirosyan noted that the attempt to install a tent was only a test on the tolerance of the authorities in order to show how humane their attitude is and how protected the constitutional rights of the country’s citizens are.
