YEREVAN. - The act of the leader of Armenia’s opposition “Heritage” party Raffi Hovannisian, namely his tearing of the ballot at Sunday’s referendum, made a bad impression on the ruling  Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP Hamlet Harutyunyan, the MP told Armenian News – NEWS.am correspondent.

“I condemn the “Heritage” leader. Lots of “No” supporters, who had to go to vote, saw Raffi’s conduct and went to vote “Yes,” the RPA MP said confidently, adding that that single vote could have been very important for the referendum.

“Nobody speaks about this, but I saw the video, and this made a very bad impression on me. And you are always blaming us. If we did that, you would have written such things which would have caused the hair on our head to rise,” he said.

Together with this, Harutyunyan wasn’t affected by the facts and alarms on violations.  The election observation of PACE, which mentions vote buying, carousel voting, pressure on voters and misuse of administrative resources, is considered by Harutyunyan as a revenge to Armenia for joining the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).

“Regardless of the manner in which the elections were held, PACE wouldn’t have recognized them as legitimate. And this is true since the day Armenia acceded the Eurasian Union. Of course, I doubt their report. Why do you idealize it? The same PACE is adopting pro-Azerbaijani documents,” Harutyunyan said.
