YEREVAN. – There was heavy snowfall throughout Armenia on Sunday night.

Deputy Director of the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring State Service Meteorological Center, Gagik Surenyan, told the aforementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In his words, the maximum height of snow cover was in Jermuk town, with 87 centimeters, there are snowstorms and low visibility in the mountain regions, and the temperatures have dropped sharply, reaching -4 degrees Celsius (˚C) in capital city Yerevan.

Meteorologists forecast that this cold air front will affect Armenia until Tuesday afternoon, there will be snowfall on Monday and Tuesday throughout the country, the snowstorms will continue in the mountain areas, and the temperatures will go down constantly until Thursday.

Surenyan noted that the coldest day this week will be Thursday, when the night temperatures will fall all the way to -30˚C in the  mountain regions, and -15˚C  to -17˚C  in the Ararat plain and in Yerevan.

The weather in Armenia will gradually warm up as of Friday.
