The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group is the only format for resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Swedish MP Lotta Johnsson Fornarve, who is also a member of the Unified European Left Group in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), on Tuesday stated the above-said at the ongoing PACE Winter Session in Strasbourg, France.

In her conviction, the positions of all parties to this conflict need to be considered.

Johnsson Fornarve recalled, however, that when preparing their respective reports, PACE MPs Robert Walter and Milica Marković had visited solely Azerbaijan, and neither Armenia nor Nagorno-Karabakh.

She proposed that the report be returned to the PACE Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy, and advised not to adopt it at all.

And as per PACE Vice-President René Rouquet, who is also a French MP of the PACE Socialist Group, the Karabakh conflict needs to be resolved solely through peace.

“Neutrality toward the conflicting parties needs to be ensured,” Rouquet stressed. “In reality, the [two] reports meet none of these conditions.”

PACE on Tuesday voted against MP Robert Walter’s (UK) anti-Armenian report entitled “Escalation of Violence in Nagorno-Karabakh and Other Occupied Territories of Azerbaijan,” but adopted MP Milica Marković’s (Bosnia and Herzegovina) anti-Armenian report about Sarsang Reservoir in Nagorno-Karabakh, and entitled “Inhabitants of frontier regions of Azerbaijan are deliberately deprived of water.”
