YEREVAN. - The constitutional reforms require greater credit of confidence from the government.

Minister and Chief of RA Government Staff Davit Harutyunyan said the aforementioned, responding to the question of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) MP Gagik Jhangiryan.

According to the 2005 edition of the Armenian Constitution, the President appoint as Prime Minister the person enjoying confidence of the majority of the Deputies and if this is impossible the person enjoying confidence of the maximum number of the Deputies.

“The new Constitution is quite different. Forming of the new Government requires the absolute majority of the parliament. No confidence, no Government. In that case the parliament will be given another chance to form a Government, and if not, I’m sorry, but it will be necessary to form a new political palette,” Harutyunyan added.

The referendum on constitutional amendments was held in Armenia on December 6 last year, confirming the shift of the republic to the parliamentary form of governance. The parliamentary elections will be held in 2017.
