Deputy Mayor of Gyumri, Ruben Sanoyan, announced that the Balasanyans Charity foundation will provided 500,000 AMD to the fundraising launched by SOS program director Hayk Barseghayn with the aim of acquiring 13 flats for Gyumri’s homeless.

As reported earlier, world-renowned Armenian pianist Tigran Hamasyan today gave a charity concert in the shack-filled district of Gyumri, in assistance to the homeless in the second largest city of Armenia.

The Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter on location informed that several dozens of homeless dwell in this district.

The concert is held at the yard of the shack of the Gevorgyan family, who “lives” in it ever since the devastating earthquake that hit Gyumri in 1988.

Geghetsik Gevorgyan, 73, resides in this shack with her three young grandchildren. Her son had died six years ago.
