Serious work is underway to inform the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) about the war crimes Azerbaijan has committed,

Opposition Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) Chairwoman and PAP National Assembly (NA) Faction Head Naira Zohrabyan, who is also a member of the Armenian NA delegation to the PACE, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In her words, excluding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict from the PACE agenda does not mean an absence of respective debates.

“[Armenian delegation members] Hermine Naghdalyan, Samvel Farmanyan, and I have already delivered speeches,” Naira Zohrabyan noted. “Today, during discussion of the report by the Commissioner for Human Rights, we will raise the issue of the crimes Azerbaijan has committed. In the evening, there will be discussions on the Panama Papers, in which the [Azerbaijan President Ilham] Aliyev clan is involved. That is, every opportunity will be used to raise the matter of Azerbaijani aggression.”

In her words, putting this matter on the PACE agenda would have limited the opportunities of the Armenian delegation.

“Had the issue been included [in the agenda], [just] half an hour would have been allocated to the discussion topic, and we would not have had the right to raise the issue during the other discussions,” the Armenian MP noted. “But, in this way, we are not constrained.”

Naira Zohrabyan also informed that they have handed out pamphlets to their fellow PACE MPs, and with respect to the war crimes Azerbaijan has committed.

“[But] we didn’t include photos, for ethical considerations,” she added.
