YEREVAN. – Armenians teach us to stand on our feet and continue the work that has begun.

Marguerite Barankitse (Burundi), who has become the first laureate of the Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity, stated the aforesaid during the press conference in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan, on Sunday, April 24, 2016, the 101st anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

Barankitse noted that she knew about the Armenian Genocide when she was still a schoolchild.

“Armenians are people who were able to rebuild their homeland; they truly are a nation with values,” Marguerite Barankitse added. “A generation, which survived a tragedy, can create a state.”
