Daytime temperature in the northern India has risen to 50.5 degrees Celsius.  Five provinces of India declared a state of emergency, according India’s meteorological service.

According to the recent data, on May 18, there was registered 50.5 degrees in Phalodi, which is lower at 0.1 degrees from the highest temperature ever recorded in the history of meteorological observations in India. The meteorological service Director Brakhma Prakash Yadav said that in the coming days the temperature in the Northern , Western, and Central India will continue to grow . Temperature in New Delhi has already exceeded 47 degrees , increasing demand for electricity , which has reached the highest level in the recent years. As a result, the entire regions got deprived of electricity . The population tends to stay at home.

A difficult situation is created in the international airport named after Indira Gandhi -- the landing strips in the afternoon heat up to 50 degrees. As a result, the coverage gets softer making landing of large aircraft more difficult, reports TASS.

The heat intensifies due to the lack of rains. 265 districts of India, which are the home to more than 330 million people suffers from a lack of drinking water. 500-700 people died in Odishye , Telangan, Andhra Pradesh, and in the southern states over the past two weeks due to heat.  The experts explain this unprecedented heat in India by presence of local anomalies and growing influence of El Ninyo.
