The Armenian-Russian economic ties are developing actively and dynamically, being based on the confidence between the sides, First Deputy Minister of Russian Economic Development, Alexey Likhachev, told Armenian journalists in Moscow Saturday.

In his words, the turnover between Armenia and Russia constituted 1.6 percent in 2015, the import from Armenia being 6.7 percent. Likhachev stressed that fantastic indexes have been recorded in 2016: the import from Armenia rose by 3.7 percent, the commodity turnover increasing by 20 percent in dollar expression in January and March.

“The Armenian businessmen turned to be much more savvy than the Russian ones, but several goods, which we banned in Turkey, recorded a growth in import from Armenia to Russia. For instance, during the first quarter the supply of tomatoes in dollar expression rose by 558 times; the supply of fruits [also] increased,” Likhachev noted, adding that Russia comes the first according to its investments in Armenia, which make up $4.24 bln. The inter-sector cooperation is also carried out in all directions, he added.
