YEREVAN. – Pope Francis leads a very simple life.
Fr. Federico Lombardi, Director of the Holy See Press Office, said at a briefing Friday with local and foreign journalists in Armenia.
Reflecting on the query as to why the Pontiff is traveling around in Armenia with a small Renault, instead of a Range Rover or a Bentley, for example, Fr. Lombardi stated that the Pope had decided to make use of ordinary cars from the very beginning.
He noted that the Bishop of Rome chose a very small and ordinary car in Armenia. As per Fr. Lombardi, the Holy Father believes that a vehicle is a symbol of power, strength, and authority for many. But he endeavors to send us another message, and that is why he makes use of small and ordinary vehicles.
