Hundreds of faithful have gathered in Khor Virap Monastery to get the blessing of Pope Francis, who is on a three-day visit to Armenia.
In a few minutes, the Pope will arrive at the Monastery to take part in a close ceremony.
Part of the road leading to the monastery has been blocked, the faithful having to pass this section on foot hoping to be able to approach Pope Francis and get his blessing. The citizens have gathered by the Monastery two hours before the Pope’s visit.
Pope Francis and Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II will release doves in the direction of Mount Ararat and the closed Armenian-Turkish border as a sign of their message of peace. The Pope will then leave for Rome.
