President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan does not believe that CSTO is a counterbalance to NATO.

“Yes, the CSTO is also a military-political bloc, designed to ensure the security of the member states. As a founding member of the CSTO, we have always made sure that the organization is willing to cooperate with NATO,” President Serzh Sargsyan told the Arabic Al Mayadeen TV.

President Sargsyan said Armenia always wishes that the Russian and U.S. interests coincided, that there were no conflicts between them. According to him, to seek interests in conflict with the other is always dangerous.

“As a member of the CSTO, we are working with NATO, working closely. This once again shows that the CSTO and NATO are not designed to necessarily come into conflict with each other,” the Armenian leader concluded.
