Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Shamkhani stated that the $400 million in cash that Iran received from the U.S. has nothing in common with nuclear program, Tansim News Agency reported.

He noted that the $400 million was a part of settlement of an outstanding debt relating to the purchase of military equipment prior to the 1979 Islamic Revolution and had nothing to do with the nuclear talks.

The fact that Iran received the cash payment simultaneous with the conclusion of t.e victory of Islamic Revolution. This sum ($400 million) million was part of a trust fund used to buy US military equipment and that Iran’s litigation is still ongoing in The Hague. According to Shamkhani, Iran should receive $1 billion 710 million, in accordance with the lawsuit claims
