The investigators will soon motion for the arrest of the man who was detained for taking people hostage in a bank in downtown Moscow.

Yulia Ivanova, assistant to head of the Moscow department of the Russian Investigative Committee, on Thursday told the aforesaid to RIA Novosti news agency of Russia.

In her words, during interrogation, bankrupt Armenian businessman Aram Petrosyan told investigators that he did not want to kill his hostages, and that he was just intending to draw attention to his problem.

On Wednesday evening, Petrosyan took four people hostage in a Citibank branch in downtown Moscow, and threatened to blow up the building.

Several hours later, however, he released all hostages and surrendered to the police.

A criminal case has been launched on charges of taking hostages.

But according to sources, considering that Aram Petrosyan released all hostages and surrendered, the charges of hostage-taking may be commuted to “unlawfully depriving of liberty.”
