The European Commission(EC) does not intend to interfere with the decisions of the EU member states on ban on wearing of burkini, Commission Deputy Chief Spokesman Alexander Winterstein stated.
“On this matter it is for each member state to determine, subject to the supervision of the national court and the European Court of Human Rights, how they want to regulate the way people live together in their countries.” Winterstein said, EurActiv reported.
Burkini is Muslim bathing suit covering the whole body. At least 15 cities banned wearing of burkini on the beach in the southeast of France.
