YEREVAN. – Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan handed in resignation following the meeting of the Cabinet on Wednesday.
Mr. Abrahamyan said the country is faced with external threats at the same time solving domestic political issues, while the Armenian society stays polarized.
“However, the country is still faced with problems of a transition economy. And you can give an opportunity to a new government to meet these challenges,” he said.
Hovik Abrahamyan has been in office since April 2014. He came to replace Tigran Sargsyan, the current head of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
Former Mayor of Yerevan and head of ArmRusGazprom CJSC Karen Karapetyan is rumored to replace Abrahamyan.
