Mehdi Khazali, the son of the conservative Ayatollah Khazali, has been arrested in Iran.

According to FARS news agency, he was arrested last night charged with propaganda against the Iranian regime and spreading misinformation. Mehdi Khazali has constantly criticized Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad in his blog. He also accused the Iranian leader of having Jewish roots, saying he had changed his family name.

Ayatollah Khazali is one of the authors of the Iranian constitution.
