After unsuccessful negotiations on wage increase for 2017 , Hyundai Motor's South Korean labor union staged its first full nationwide strike in 12 years, Reuters reported.

Summer strikes led to loss of $2.02 billion by carmaker.  Factories across South Korea are producing about 40% of its vehicles.

Representatives of Hyundai management said that it was “obviously disappointed” with any halt in production and was continuing to work with the union to resolve the dispute.
