Ukrainian authorities handed over five Dutch Golden Age paintings to the Netherlands which  were stolen from the Westfries Museum in the northwest town of Hoorn on the night of Jan 9, 2005, The Straits Times reported.

These paintings were discovered in Ukraine at the beginning of 2016. The Ukrainian authorities have found four of them and the fifth painting was handed back by an unsuspecting Ukrainian art buyer in May. Museum Directorate reported that the paintings were strongly damaged.

Besides these five paintings, 19 more Dutch Golden Age masterpieces and 70 pieces of silverware were stolen from the Westfries Museum in 2005. They have not been found yet.
