YEREVAN. - The autumn session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will address the human rights regress in Turkey.

Member of the Armenian delegation to PACE, Samvel Farmanyan, who is also a Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP, told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am.

One of the issues on the agenda of the PACE autumn session, which is to be held on October 10-14, will be the situation in Turkey after the July coup attempt. The issue will be discussed in an extraordinary order on Monday, considering the urgent nature of the human rights protection in the country, Farmanyan noted.

The discussions will be held, considering the results of the visit of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Torbern Jagland to Turkey. And on Wednesday Turkish FM Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu is expected to make address.

Due to the complicated human rights situation in Turkey, the idea of resuming monitoring there is gradually gaining weight in PACE, that is Turkey may turn from a post-monitoring into a monitoring state.

The election of the judge to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) from Azerbaijan is also planned to be held at the session.

Asked whether the Armenian delegation is going to initiate a discussion of the Karabakh conflict or human rights in Armenia, Farmanyan said: “It will become clear on the ground.”
