ETCHMIADZIN. – Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II on Tuesday received Vigen Sargsyan, the newly appointed Minister of Defense of Armenia.
Karekin II stressed that each and every Armenian should feel himself a part of the Armenian army, Information Services of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. He also confirmed that the Armenian Church will make every effort and use every opportunity to form this awareness.
The defense minister, for his part, reflected on the need for associating the concepts of nation and army with one another. He also presented the programs to be undertaken toward strengthening army-society ties.
The Catholicos, in turn, confirmed that army service is not merely a duty for Armenian soldiers, but a commitment to and an awareness of being the defenders of the homeland.
