YEREVAN. – Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) President Pedro Agramunt will answer for all of his words.

Opposition Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) Chairwoman and PAP National Assembly (NA) Faction Head Naira Zohrabyan, who is also a member of the Armenian NA delegation to PACE, on Monday told the aforementioned to reporters in the Armenian parliament.

She noted this reflecting on the scandal involving Agramunt, when he had turned off the microphones of Zohrabyan and fellow Armenian MP Naira Karapetyan, during the PACE autumn session last week in Strasbourg, France.

“The PACE session, as always, was quite tense because we work there with the [Azerbaijani and Turkish] Milli Majlis [i.e. parliament] regime,” stated Zohrabyan. “Under the conditions of the domination of the Turkish-Azerbaijani lobby, we [i.e. the Armenian NA delegation to PACE] are able to solve the problems we face.

“As for the incident that occurred, this was unprecedented. I spoke with the PACE ‘old timers.’ We are also familiar with the PACE regulations, pursuant to which you have no right to speak about a specific topic only in one case: if any report on the given topic is put on the agenda of the session.

“That is, Agramunt allowed a blatant violation by interrupting the speeches of Naira Karapetyan and mine. Moreover, during [his] meeting with Hermine Naghdalyan [i.e. the Armenian NA vice president and head of the NA delegation to PACE], he didn’t event deny that he violated the regulations. We will see to it, with all regulations, that he be punished.”

In her words, Pedro Agramunt fell into hysteria because the Armenian delegation at PACE raised a matter that is painful to him: corruption within the Council of Europe.

Naira Zohrabyan informed that the Armenian delegation will discuss the issue, and see to it, through all legal procedures, that the PACE president be brought to account for his action.
