YEREVAN. – The Council of Europe (CoE) Office in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia, organized a peer review, entitled “Engaging citizens in local policy making,” to assess the results of the local initiatives in four communities in the country, and recorded that a respective culture of has been formed in these communities.

The event was organized within the framework of the CoE Project “Support Consolidating Local Democracy in Armenia,” which was carried out in Artik, Urtsadzor, Vardenik, and Akhtala communities, the office informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The peer review was organized On October 27 and 28 in Artik and Urtsadzor, and by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe.  

The aim of this event was to assess the results of the local initiatives in Artik, Urtsadzor, Vardenik and Akhtala through open and critical discussions on the successes, challenges and lessons learned with the communities’ stakeholders, exchange experience and disseminate best practices of citizens’ participation, and strengthen network(s) of “leaders for change” at the local level in Armenia.
