The European Commission has offered its services as a mediator to resolve the dispute over gas between Russia and Ukraine. The EC Energy Commissioner Marosh Šefčovič will visit Moscow to this end. If the parties agree, there will be hold a trilateral meeting among Russia, Ukraine, and the EU, said the EC representative, reports the DW.
Yesterday, during a telephone conversation with the German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed a concern that because of the forecasted cold winter Ukraine may use without an authorization the Russian gas which is transported to Europe. The EC representative announced that the EU is ready to contribute to a solution where the gas will continue being supplied satisfying all the parties.
