Elon Musk SpaceX will provide most residents of the planet with an internet connection of 1GB in a second. In this connection, the company plans to launch about 4.5 million satellites, which is three times more than the number of satellites currently in use, reports RNS.

SpaceX has already applied to the US Federal Communications Commission for permission to start the project. There will be launched 800 satellites at the first stage of the project to expand the Internet access in the US. Each satellite is at the size of a passenger car, weighting 36 kg.

SpaceX has not included the dates and financial costs of the project in the application to the FCC.
