YEREVAN. – Armenia has no relations with Ankara, President Serzh Sargsyan said in an interview with Sky News Arabia.

Asked about his assessment of Yerevan-Ankara relations, the President said: “I would characterize it as a lack of relationships. Today Armenia actually does not have any relations with Ankara, because, as you rightly emphasized, a few years ago we took the initiative to establish relations with Turkey without preconditions. After long negotiations, we signed the document in Switzerland with the presence of the Foreign Ministers of almost all member states of the UN Security Council. They are witnesses to the signing of the document.”

However, unfortunately, Turkey's leadership refused to ratify the document, although Armenia took many efforts so that the document “could be a reality”, the Armenian leader said.

President Sargsyan added that during a week he traveled almost all over the world, met with representatives of the Diaspora - from Lebanon to Los Angeles, New York, Rostov-on-Don.

“We no longer have a reason or opportunity to take steps, as the ball is in Turkey’s court, and they, I think, need to take a step,” he added.
