YEREVAN. – The situation around Nagorno-Karabakh [(Artsakh)] is certainly a cause for concern.

Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Federation Council of Russia, Konstantin Kosachev, on Saturday told the aforesaid to reporters in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan.

“It [i.e. the Karabakh conflict settlement process], sadly, has remained in the same place,” he noted. “We [i.e. Russia] most thoroughly discussed the matter with the foreign minister and the defense minister of Armenia. We heard that the Armenian party [in this conflict] is definitely ready to move forward. In the view of the Armenian party, the reason for the setback [in resolving this conflict] is Azerbaijan.

“We would like to see a situation where Armenia and Azerbaijan have found a common ground. In general, we see Russia’s mission in that the latter contribute to these negotiations.”

Kosachev also said he sincerely believes that the parliamentary format will be in demand in this regard.

“[But] the parliamentary track shall not at all undermine the [Karabakh] negotiation process,” he added.
