YEREVAN. - The mandatory component will not be removed from the bill pursuant to which 1,000 AMD will be retained from the salaries of Armenian citizens.

Defense Minister of Armenia Vigen Sargsyan said the aforementioned Saturday, at a press conference following the 16th Congress of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).

In his words, this is the key basis of the mentioned law. “By editing it I would have edited the essence of the law,” Sargsyan noted.

The Defense Minister didn’t agree with the observation that the bill was widely criticized in Armenia. “In the political field, criticism is assessed by the results of the final voting. We have a law which received more votes in favor than in case of many other laws adopted in the recent years. 102 votes in favor is a very large support. This is more than the votes of the RPA in the parliament.”

During the extraordinary session held on November 18, the Armenian Parliament approved the bill on the insurance payments for servicemen in case they acquire disabilities or die. The bill proposes to retain 1,000 AMD from the salaries of Armenian citizens.
