The Defense Ministry and the Self-Defense Forces of Japan discovered that their shared communication network suffered a cyberattack that enabled a hacker to penetrate the Ground Self-Defense Force’s computer system, The Japan Times reported.
It was noted that as a result of the attack leakage of confidential data is possible. The attack was highly skilled, the ministry immediately raised its cybersecurity alert level.
They also said the hacker appears to have gained unauthorized access to computers at the National Defense Academy and the National Defense Medical College.
