The websites of Voice of American and Radio Liberty, which are among the most widely-read and popular informational resources of Azerbaijan, have been blocked in the country for already the second day, contact.az reports.

The Ministry of Communications, e-Security Center and main Internet supplier in the country, Deltatelekom, decline to comment on what is happening.  The access to the sites remains open outside the country.

The country's E-Security Center has the technical capabilities to immediately identify the cause of the blocking if this occurs on someone's malicious intent. The refusal of the offical authorities to explain what is happening is indicative of the fact that the block is under the control of the authorities, the authors note.

It is hard to say why this is done but it is possible that the authorities are trying to reduce the platforms where the government is actively criticized for increasing tariffs for gas and electricity. Nevertheless, such criticism successfully continues on Facebook.

The website of the only opposition newspaper "Azadlig" also works with interruptions.
